polished ivory skins with reddish purple markings. The outer bulbs wrappers are several layer thick which protect the bulb and enhancing it's storage quality. Stores very well for 6 - 9 months.

This mid season

From a culinary standpoint, it is probably one of the best of the American heirloom red garlics.

It's best to plant garlic in the fall or early winter. Garlic grows best in full sun in a fertile loose soil with good drainage. In addition to adding compost to the planting bed, fertilize twice more with nitrogen as garlic is a nitrogen hog.
